This site contains a set of guides for users of the Jaws screen reader. They cover various aspects of Windows and a few useful applications, and they will also be useful to users of other screen readers. All the guides are free.

January update

There’s now a Jaws guide to Internet Explorer 7, and the Jaws guide to Audacity has been updated for version 1.3.4. Any comments or suggestions for improvements, would be welcome.

October update

There’s now a Jaws guide for Google’s web-based email, which is known as Gmail in most countries, but as Google Mail in a small number of countries, due to existing trademarks.

June 2007 update

There’s now a Jaws guide for Windows Media Player 11. Also, the Jaws guide for Audacity has been updated for version 1.3.3, and the magnifier guide for the image viewer XnView has been revised to cover version 1.9.

March 2007 update

There’s now a Jaws guide for Audacity, an open-source multi-track audio editor. You can use Audacity for recording, simple editing of single tracks, or more advanced editing involving multiple tracks.

June update

There are a number of new Jaws guides for using the world web web, including guides to the BBC History, TNAUK, and LibriVox websites. For those who haven’t come across the LibriVox website, it contains a rapidly growing number of free audio books which are available for download.

There are also three new Magnifier guides, including a guide for setting the default font and font size, line spacing etc. in Microsoft Word.
